[Video] Salmonfly Nymph Time!

With the Salmonfly hatch in full swing on many of our western US rivers I thought I’d pay homage to the great winged beasts with this week’s Friday Night Fly Tying Video. We’ll start off with a pretty realistic looking salmonfly nymph brought to us by Mike Thomas, next week take a look at some giant dry fly patterns

Salmonfly Nymphs

You might have noticed the adult Salmonfly is big! This makes them fun to tie and even more to fish because salmonflies often attract big fish! As Mike notes in the video though, Salmonfly nymphs take 3 to 4 years to fully mature and therefore the nymphs actually range in size from a hook size 10 up to a size 4.
